To provide small to medium electrical contractor an electrical estimating service, so to free up the owner’s time so he can be able to supervise his employees, look for additional work, pick up materials needed for the job site and talk to the contractors.
The software I use I created it using Microsoft Excel, which is easier for the contractor to modify the cover sheet, so he can make the necessary correction so he can meet the contractors estimated cost for the electrical work.

Ø Provide a complete bid, showing the list of materials and cost extension, labor for each line item and the total of each page.
Ø Make take of the lighting according to the lighting schedule, send it to the supply house of the electrician’s choice. Also send the riser and panel schedule to the same supply. If the plans have a fire alar

Ø Make take of the lighting according to the lighting schedule, send it to the supply house of the electrician’s choice. Also send the riser and panel schedule to the same supply. If the plans have a fire alarm I will send it out to different vendors I used for the item. These items I will add to the over quote.
Ø If the electrician needs me to meet him at a job site to go over the job to make changes to the quote, or to make change order I will meet him.
Ø If need be I can make a project schedule so the electrician can see where he fits into the overall time frame of the job.
Ø If the job site is out the boundaries of Miami-Dade, Broward, lower Palm Beach, I will add a hotel as close to the site as possible. Also, I will add $25/day per employee for dinner.
Ø If the plans are sent via email as a PDF, I will send them to be printed which make my job so much easier.
Ø If I find anything I am not sure on I will send the electrician an RFI, so he can send it to the contractor.
Ø From the electrician I just need 3 items so I can complete the estimate:
o The average hourly rate (add the salary per hour he pays the electricians and the divide by the total number of electricians
o % of overhead (which covers the office staff, the owner’s salary, the ware and tare of the trucks, insurance of the trucks, gasoline of the company vehicles, etc.)
o % of profit
Ø I charge a flat rate based on the time I need to be able to do the quote, I have a minimum charge and time which I will discuss with the electrician. Any time over the minimum time will be charge accordingly again discussed with the electrician.
